To make the string to ring at the correct note or the pitch can be done with the process of tuning. It is nothing but the manipulation of the tuning pegs of the guitar. The altered tuning is used very commonly by the blues players and the finger stylists. But the beginners are instructed to start the same with the standard tuning. The tuning will be from low to high and will come as E-A-D-G-B-E. The high E will be on the guitar and the E will be straight above the C in the middle. The tuning will start working downward from this place.

When the guitar strings are tuned for some other source like the piano, pitch pipe of for the other guitar, it is called as the reference tuning. The reference pitch will be played first and the matching string will be played next. This will commonly be the open string on the guitar. The tuning pegs will be turned to right or right and the pitch will be moved either upwards or downwards.

Tuning the guitar to itself is called as the relative tuning. Till such time the guitar is played solo, the chords and notes will sound perfectly. When it is compared to the other instrument it can be seen that the pitch of the complete guitar will be either very high or very low.

Electronic tuning is the easy method of tuning and the electronic tuner will be used for locating the perfect pitches.
